Let' s Look at Some Positive

Losing musician friends is indescribably sad. After a week of having to adjust to the fact that one more member of our family is gone, it is definitely time to look at something positive.

Here's something: Juan, you did good a couple of weeks ago.

Juan Ortega is another of Santa Fe's long-time musicians. Along with Mike Montiel, Bobby Glenn, and a small assist from a local sax player, you guys did good at the Tin Star Acoustic Jam last January 19.

I went and dug up a copy of the Maverick's original The Loosing Side of Me, and compared it to the version Juan led a couple of weeks ago.

Juan, your version holds up well to the original. And yours was a jam with four guys, two of whom did not know the song. Not too shabby, buddy. Hope to see you next Monday.

I had surgery on both knees Friday morning. I think medical term the Dr. used to describe what he found inside them was "messed up". Three hours of slicing & dicing.

Percocet is not a bad little product, I'm discovering.

So, for the next week or so I'll be on my backside, slacking, watching old episodes of South Park, I Spy, and the Outer Limits (the original series).

I seriously doubt I'll be able to make either jam this week, but you all know what to do.

Pre-Inauguration Tin Star Acoustic Jam

There was a peaceful, easy feeling in the room as the players drifted in. The talk was all about the coming inauguration as Mike Montiel and Bobby Glenn kicked off the jam with Pancho and Lefty.
