Update, 10-21-2008
: The Tin Star is still closed.

Folks,

Over this past weekend at least two prominent Santa Fe establishments were hit with multiple citations by the Santa Fe SID squad. I don't know what SID stands for, but the SID's job description seems to include trying to shut down popular music establishments.

As a result, at least one of these establishments has chosen to remain closed until they have had the benefit of consulting with their attorneys.

Stay tuned...

  1. Special investigations devision... They enforce the most redicious laws in the state. The fact that after serving someone one beer, they can pull that person aside and ask him to blow in a breathalizer. If he blows over .15 (I think) he is intoxicated. The person who served that beer is responsibal. That said person could of just drank 4 minitures in the parking lot, walked in to the bar looking sober as day, order a beer and then after a half hour he is over the leagle limit. That is the bar and servers responsibilty?

  2. (part 2)Now each case the S.I.D. has brought to the court has been thrown out. Due to lack of evidence. The citation/s still stand on the license. 3 citations on a license results in loss of that license. It is wrong to hold the server or establishment accountable for each persons actions? This is true with firearms: when someone kills someone with a gun, the law actually prevents the victims to sue the store who sold the gun... With liquor? We have a third party reliability law, this law assists the family of the victims to seek damages from the server and establishment for serving him. People are loosing jobs..... And for everyone who does not know you do not have to blow in to a breathalyzer, ever... If you are in your car yes you will be charged, if you are out side of a bar and a badge carrying social reject asks you to blow in to his toy tell him NO...

  3. It looks like Tony and Nick forgot to send in their bribes to the SFPD this month.

  4. I need to say that the outpouring of support from customers/friends/ musicians and even competitors has been overwhelming and we can't thank you all enough. We really do try to run a fair establishment and luckily several of you realize that and thanks again. We're not quite dead yet... I hope. Love ya, RD.

  5. WOW, just one more example of a government whoes priorities and jurisdiction are WAY BEYOND their intellectual capacity. The sad reality, or my sad reality is that NOTHING WILL CHANGE and I AM POWERLESS whether I vote or do not.
